Men-can they really change?

Miles,my current boyfriend,is a skank at worst and an absolute darling when he wants to be,and as some of you might know,i'm a very 'particular' guy and i simply cannot tolerate certain things,like unbecoming behaviour in public or making friends and guests of mine uncomfortable! Miles,recently was guilty of both crimes! we spoke and he promised he'd change....was i wrong to ask him to be what i want him to be or should i and my mates adapt and accept him for the sometimes-crass but always-sexy guy he is? can he change?
